Festival Style Told By Cate
The flowers are blooming, the sun is shining, and ‘Hotlanta’ is back after a long-awaited return. With spring officially upon us, another highly-anticipated, return comes along too- music festivals! Nothing beats dancing to that one song you played on repeat for months with the people closest to. It’s no secret that the artists are the stars of the show, but festivals are also a runway for the latest spring and summer trends! April marks the beginning of festival season here in Atlanta. Whether you find yourself raving at Shaky Beats, strolling through Piedmont Park for the Dogwood Festival, or enjoying a beer at Sweetwater’s 420 Fest, these must-haves are sure to amp up your style!
With festival season quickly approaching, I thought I’d share some of my go-to’s that help make my experience that much better. One of my favorite pieces to rock on the festival grounds is my Pieces Etc by Dianne Price kimono (pictured on right). Kimonos are a great way to keep a look fresh and flowy, while still preventing a possible heat stroke. I usually pair a kimono with a cute tank or a funky bodysuit like the one pictured to the right by LNA.
The great thing about festivals is that all styles are fair game. Your everyday look could be cool & sophisticated but at festivals you’re free to explore the inner badass you’ve always been. A great way to show versatility in your style is with graphic tees. Graphics can be cut, cropped, oversized, frayed- any way you want it! I love to pair my tees with a simple, denim short topped off with my handy-dandy fanny pack from Thailand! I know how much of a bad rap fanny packs have, but just hear me out- these things are God sent! If you’re like me and hate carrying things around, especially if I’m dancing around all day, then the fanny pack is just for you. My fanny pack carries all of my festival essentials- cash, cell-phone, portable charger, and my hand fan I never knew I needed. Not to mention that having all your most important belongings around your waist makes it a lot less easier to steal.
My last, but definitely NOT the least, tip I have is all about footwear! The most crucial component of your festival fit are comfy shoes! I cannot stress this enough, ladies! It doesn't matter how cute your outfit is if you can’t walk around and show it off! I usually am at a festival all weekend long, so comfortable shoes are a must for me. I need a shoe that can keep up with lost friends, dancing, and running in between sets. To ensure that you’re fashionable and functional, I recommend pairing your look with some fringe Minnetonka boots or a couple of supportive slides.
Festivals have been the place where some of my dearest memories have been made. As soon as you make it safely through security, you’re greeted by a flurry of people dancing, smiling, radiating pure happiness with the music you love. The best thing about festival fashion is that it’s completely your own. Putting my own personal twist on festival trends has a way of making me feel the most comfortable- even when I’m being suffocated in a crowd. I hope that some of these tips will help alleviate the stress that comes along with festival season, and ultimately makes it that much better! Happy festival season ladies! May all the good vibes come your way!
